There will be serious changes in America's social outlook and governance, its apparent from the way Obama is befriending the south americas and the Iran. Texas republicans need a scape goat to cut their losses and make the dollar value stronger than what Euro is today. Obama is happily willing to be this, for a cause, for a change, for what the americans truly mean by 'liberty'.

Nobody in India is ready to become a scapegoat, they all love that piece of furniture too dearly to let go. Gone are the days of Nehrus, Vallabh Bhai Patels and Lal Bhadur Shastris. Nobody has the will, or might to implement the massive turn around of the system that is required.

India can not and will not have a person like Obama.

I disagree.. Even US never believed theyd get an Obama.. So u never know.. I agree the present state of affairs doesnt seem to allow us to be optimistic but thats what all young democracies face. It ll take a few decades, but we will be there .

We indians are afraid of change. That is the reason why we keep voting the same man accused of 100 murders or 1000 crores scam again and agian. Son of a leader of a party knows exactly where he's heading next. Rahul Gandhi knows he's going to stand for PM soon and his son/daughter will know he/she's going to be next. So does Omar Abdullahs, Kumarasamys and Stalins. We need to get out of this inhibition if we need a Obama. Hardly a few try to find out candidates who are standing in their constituency and vote for good independents. Its true that they are going to lose to a larger outfit, but it would still matter for the candidate. BTW i have nothing against Congress or NC, i just quoted an example. I believe all political parties are equally sick and opportunistic.
