Shiney Ahuja. The guy, who happens to be in the limelight now than he was, ever before. Considering the fact that his name almost contradicts his status in the film industry, most of us wouldn’t really bother our busy heads with his films, his success, his failure or a rape case allegation on him. There are others who believe that he is an icon to many eyes and that he evidently sets a bad example to those who are ardent followers of the movies of this “shining” star. Consequentially, the belief states that the alleged rape case should be given as much importance as it deserves, which eventually will turn out to be a lesson for the other stars in the film industry or the like. Fair enough.
Everything is a matter of perception. Each one of us tends to prioritize matters, very different from others. Even the absence of a dustbin on a street corner can be given as much importance as a rape case. Basically, the problem lies with perception. If there was a law that stated priorities for everything that took place everywhere every time, we would probably have lesser problems and a more convenient lifestyle. Not that a rape case should be neglected, but that equal importance should be given to the absence of a dustbin on the street corner or a beggar lying on the pavement all day. Importance is being given to such matters also, but not as much as they deserve. NGOs, charitable trusts, etc etc are busy channelizing their efforts towards the betterment of this part of the society, which is undoubtedly appreciable. Nevertheless, individual responsibility is something we ought to acknowledge.
Fortunately or unfortunately, Mrs. Ahuja has stepped in to be the woman in her man’s life and to save him from the unbearable tortures of the society. Well, it is rather ironic to see such intelligent people lacking common sense, something that suggests that there is no smoke without fire. All that we commoners can do is hope for a day when there would be lesser issues to bother about and better traits to rejoice. This would be a consequence of only one thing, which is, a change in perception, to one that’s called the “Indian” perception.
